Doomsayer420 12 years ago #2. You unlock artifacts by finding them during the CAMPAIGN for any given hero. Once you find them in the single player, they are available to use in the multiplayer. As for the units, they are found in the same manner (at least the 'secret' elite/champ units). They also all start at max level.
